Welcome to La Palma Psicología
where every story matters
Hello! My name is Darío García Rodríguez, a psychologist (T-03816), specialising in narrative therapy and social and community intervention. After more than 10 years of professional experience, in May 2022, I decided to open my own psychology practice. My conviction: To provide psychological care with a respectful and non-judgemental approach; where your voice and your story are heard.
If you find yourself here, reading these words, you are likely seriously considering taking an important step towards your mental health, seeking to resolve the suffering and pain that seem endless.
As a psychologist, I have observed that many of my clients arrive at their first session burdened with a feeling of overwhelm and personal failure. Often, they feel that their efforts, conversations with loved ones, and even medication in some cases, have not yielded the expected results. Do you experience something similar?
If so, you may have noticed that these concerns are like black birds, constantly fluttering around your head, preventing you from moving forward and thinking clearly. That the strategies and skills that once worked now seem ineffective, leading you to a state of restlessness, apathy, and unease… Weaving a narrative of insecurity, fear of failure, ridicule, and the opinions of others, including your own. It’s as if there’s a gap between the person we want to be and the one we actually are.
If you identify with these words, it’s time to start therapy. At La Palma Psychology, we are ready to help you leave suffering and pain behind.
However, if you still wonder whether you need therapy, let me tell you about Alejandra, one of our clients, who has kindly given us permission to share her story and with whom we developed the metaphor of the “puzzle of my life”:
Alejandra began therapy in May 2023. It was not her first time seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist and, as she herself said, she felt that “the hope of living was becoming too heavy”. She came to us with a diagnosed depression issue from 2016 and, as she tells us, “it has been with me since adolescence”. However, in the last 3 years, her problem had worsened. Our initial conversations were overshadowed by a problematic story of failure, which prevented her from seeing her own achievements, successes, and even the skills that had allowed her to stop the idea of ending her life. We began by exploring the effects of the problem, her dreams, and hopes. Through our conversations, we gradually discovered that her life, like a puzzle, was made up of multiple stories. Not only those marked by pain and suffering but also stories full of success and satisfaction. Alejandra found in narrative therapy a balm for her discomfort, but above all, she regained control of her life. Today, after 6 months of therapy, Alejandra has regained hope and the desire to live, has resumed her personal projects, and overcome depression.”
Next, with Alejandra’s permission, I leave you with the puzzle we developed over the sessions and how it gradually expanded:
Like Alejandra, many clients, after starting therapy with us, have found in narrative therapy not only relief from their suffering but also a new understanding of their problems. They have learned that their identity is a mosaic of experiences, rich in nuances and diverse in paths. Through respectful and individualised support, they have regained hope and motivation, becoming the protagonists and narrators of their own stories.
If you still have doubts, remember, no one saves themselves alone. So I would like to encourage you to take this first step, a step marked by courage and that will not only start your journey towards well-being but also towards a new chapter in your life.
No matter what your problem is called – depression, anxiety, trauma, or challenges in personal relationships, here at La Palma Psychology, we will accompany you to end suffering and pain. You are one step away from regaining control and being able to change your story. Are you ready to take this step towards your mental health? We welcome you to a world where you have the freedom to be, feel, and change. Because every story, including yours, matters.

Over time, I have cultivated a team of outstanding psychologists, each highly qualified in both experience and training.
Our therapeutic approach is rooted in the transformative legacy of pioneers like Michael White and David Epston. This narrative approach emphasizes the belief that every person is a living story, constantly evolving, with unlimited potential for redefinition.
Through collaborative dialogue, we delve into a profound understanding of the challenges you face, examining the influence and strategies that problems use to anchor themselves in your life. We then embark on the process of reconstructing an alternative narrative that allows you to develop a richer and more nuanced understanding of your being and personal history.
At La Palma Psicología, each individual story intertwines to form a larger and more resilient tapestry.
